Too pretty to eat…mehndi cakes

 

Mehndi artists use cones to decorate skin with henna and pastry chefs use similar cones to decorate cakes. It only seems natural that these two worlds would collide in such a gorgeous, delicious and colorful way, namely mehndi cakes. I happen to be friends with two really awesome cake artists, Sandhya Patangay in New York City (creme-delicious.com) and Darcy Vasudev in San Francisco (hennaguru.com). Together the two of them cover North America from coast to coast with really original and sunning mehndi-inspired cakes. It helps that both of these artists started out as henna artists and rock these same skills with the pastry cone. In addition to Sandhya and Darcy, there are a lot of other great mehndi cake artists out there.
